2012 Graduate Student Orientation

Incoming graduate students, welcome to campus! To celebrate the start of the 2012-13 academic year, Dartmouth’s Graduate Student Council (GSC) and the Graduate Studies Office are hosting a series of orientation events.  We hope to see you there!

Wednesday, September 5th
North Park Orientation and Wine and Cheese
6 pm – 9 pm

Come to the Laundry Room to learn about student life at North Park. From 6 pm – 7 pm, Regina Salvat, the North Park GA, will explain the ins and outs of living in graduate student housing.

From 7 pm – 9 pm, all graduate students are invited to a Wine and Cheese mixer at North Park!  Show up to meet a few new people and enjoy a beverage. For those who drink, red and white wine are available with a valid driver’s license.

Thursday, September 6th
Graduate Studies Office Barbecue
5:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Join other first year staff and the staff members of the Graduate Studies Office at the annual orientation BBQ.  Come to the green between Kemney and Haldeman for dinner before heading to Filene Auditorium for the Ethics Panel.

Ethics Panel (mandatory)
6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Come watch three young thespians bring Robert Martin’s play “Stampede of Zebras” to life! Between scenes, Aine Donovan, Executive Director of Dartmouth’s Ethics Institute will facilitate a discussion based upon the play.

Sunday, September 9th
GSC First Year Dinner
6:00 pm – 8:30 pm

Come to the Rockefeller Center for a free mug, and to learn about the many events coordinated and funded by the Graduate Student Council (GSC). In addition to hosting orientation events, many of the student groups funded by the council will have sign-up booths for new students interested in participating in their activities. Food will be provided to all attendees.
