Announcing the 2013 Graduate Studies Externship Program

On October 2, 2013 by Grad Forum

logo_alumni_surveyThe Graduate Studies Office is again looking for alumni and graduate students interested in participating in the Graduate Studies Externship Program. The program seeks to connect current graduate students with alumni and give students an opportunity to gain firsthand knowledge about possible career options.

The program will take place during December. The Graduate Studies Office will pair current students with alumni, and pairs will organize a time for students to visit alumni’s places of work for a day. Visits could include discussions of the host’s career path, as well as the overall culture and values of the workplace. Students might also attend meetings, participate in other office activities, and talk with other staff members to learn about daily tasks and skills. Alumni could provide feedback on students’ resumes.

For reflections on past externship experiences, please see articles on the 2011 and 2012 Externship Programs.

Alumni interested in participating should fill out a brief questionnaire by November 1. Current graduate students who would like to participate should watch for announcements to sign-up in mid-November.
