The Importance of Sleep in Graduate School
Ann Bracken, the Director of Clinical Medical Services at Dick’s House will be discussing sleep and stress in graduate school, with an emphasis on the importance of a good nights sleep. Food will be provided!

Nutrition: How to make nutritious meals on a graduate budget and time table
Shira from Dick’s House will be talking about nutrition and how important it is for productivity. In addition this talk will be tailored towards graduate students with their time and money limitations in mind. Food will be provided!

Dartmouth Outdoor Club: Outdoor Activities and Opportunities for Grad Students at Dartmouth
Dan from DOC will be talking about the resources and opportunities at Dartmouth and in the surrounding area for students to get outdoors and explore. Current students will discuss activities they’ve partaken in. Perfect for anyone who is new to Dartmouth, has not spent much time outside, and are interested in embracing our surroundings! Food will be provided!

Dr. Evan Skow from DHMC will be talking about the mechanics of sleep, why it’s necessary for physical and mental health, how and why you’re probably doing it wrong, and what you can do to fix it. Boloco to be provided!

Managing your advisor, how to effectively manage the advisor/student relationship, a panel discussion with 4th yr. PhD candidate Harrison Hall, Tenured Professor in the Dept. of Earth Sciences Bob Hawley, and Assistant Dean of Academic & Student Affairs Holly Wilkinson.

Although often underestimated, the kind of working relationship that you form with your graduate advisor from a very early stage is absolutely critical to not only your overall productivity but also your overall state of happiness and well-being.  Please join us for a panel discussion on how to best manage the Advisor/Student relationship while in graduate school or even if just thinking about graduate school.

Dr. Todd Lindsley from the Center for Counseling and Human Development at Dartmouth College will be giving a seminar for graduate students about Stress, Anxiety, & Depression.  Open to all graduate students.  Chinese Buffet to be provided by Holly Wilkinson of the Academic and Student Affairs Office!  

Dr. Todd Lindsley and Dr. Heather Earle from the Center for Counseling and Human Development at Dartmouth College will be giving a seminar on Effective Time Management and the Work/Life Balance.  Open to all graduate students.  Burritos from Boloco to be provided by the Thayer Council!
