About Us & Our Constituents

The goal of the Graduate Student Council is to nurture and enhance a sense of community across the departments within the School of Graduate and Advanced Studies at Dartmouth.

The GSC consists of elected departmental representatives from all the departments within the School of Graduate and Advanced Studies, including TDI and Thayer, and non-voting representatives from the Tuck School of Business, the Geisel School of Medicine, and the Undergraduate Student Assembly.

GSC general council meetings are open to all graduate and undergraduate students, faculty, administrators, guests, visitors, professors, staff, etc.  Unless otherwise advertised, general council meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month during the school year (no meetings in July) at 5:30pm. Meetings are approximately an hour in duration but please arrive at 5:15pm to enjoy some pizza and socializing in the hallway prior to the meeting getting underway!

If you have any questions about the general meeting format, would like a copy of the upcoming agenda or recent minutes, or need to verify the location/time of the next meeting, please contact the GSC Communications Chair.

The Graduate Student Council represents all graduate students in the School of Graduate and Advanced Studies, including Thayer School of Engineering and The Dartmouth Institute. Altogether, this accounts for roughly 1200 graduate students! There are two other separate graduate councils on campus representing those in the professional schools, Tuck School of Business and the Geisel School of Medicine. We enjoy collaborating on various social, service, and other events with these schools' councils throughout the school year. Combined with Tuck and Geisel, graduate students at Dartmouth come to about 2400 in total and make up 33% of the entire student population.
