Finding Direction in The New Year

It’s been a few weeks since final exams finished [thank God]. Right now, you’re probably home (or abroad), spending time with family and/or friends.

If you’re a first-year student, then you’ve just finished your first term at Dartmouth (congrats!). If you’re a senior, then you might be feeling reminiscent of your last fall term on campus [insert sad face emoji]. If you’re in the middle like me, then you’ve capped off another term, and are probably grateful for some (much needed) rest and relaxation.

For many people, Fall term can be a mixed bag. For some people, it’s really great – good weather, new friends, great classes etc.

For others, it might have been more stressful – corporate recruiting, harder classes, missing friends who are abroad etc.

Or sometimes, it’s a mixture of both. Regardless, as 17F drifts off into the past, I encourage you to take a moment to start reflecting on the year as a whole. Taking time to reflect and think about your life can be really transformative. As we enter a new year, it’s important to start the year off with a set of goals. Try to have an idea of what you want to accomplish in 2018.

One way to go about this self-reflection process is to make a Self-Reflection List. Click on the link to check out our post.

I’ve always found Self-Reflection Lists helpful, especially during the end of the year. I hope you find them helpful too!
