The Adventures of Badly Drawn Girl

On October 4, 2013 by Gavin Huang

Before Mindy Kaling was Kelly Kapoor in The Office, she was Mindy Chokalingam ’01, a cartoonist for The Dartmouth. Her daily comic strip “Badly Drawn Girl” riffed at day-to-day campus life and was indeed badly drawn. But it was also very funny, jabbing at everything from Greek life to Dick’s House. The comic strip made her a campus celebrity and proved early her exceptional wit and knack for writing.

Below are some selections from “Badly Drawn Girl.” Although first published from 1999-2001, the comic strip remains surprisingly relevant.
