Equipment – Accessories

  • Computers in the front of the library are for patrons to use for looking up material in the Library Catalog and online. There are additional computers near the listening area to use for research, listening and viewing. Some of these contain music specific software such as Finale, Sibelius, and Practica Musica which is listed on the front of the computers.
  • Paddock Library has a GreenPrint release station which is also a photocopier and scanner.  Students and faculty must swipe their ID cards to use GreenPrint to print and photocopy.  Scanning is free for everyone and there is a card tethered to the machine that both Dartmouth and Outside Users may use for scanning to their email.   There is another GreenPrint machine in Hopkins Center located next to the Hinman Mail boxes.  For more information see: http://tech.dartmouth.edu/its/services-support/help-yourself/knowledge-base-search?field_kb_topic_tid=10091&field_kb_category_tid[]=10111&keys= (Links to an external site.)
  • The Hart-Grinnell Audiovisual Center (Front Study Room) with listening equipment is behind the half wall you look at to your left when you sit at the circulation desk. There are machines here equipped for playing CDs, cassettes, LPs, DVDs and VHS tapes.
  • The headphones are located below the hold shelf and each has a barcode on it to use in check-out. If the patron does not have a library card, you can check out the headphones using “Unregistered user” as patron in MilCirc and taking their license or credit card and placing it in the cubby for the headphones they are using. Adapters may be necessary to connect to individual computers and they are located in the top right drawer below the headphones.  Headphones are due back at closing.
  • Paddock also has several external drives, laptop chargers and USB phone cables available for patrons to check out.  These are for “in-house use only” and are located with the headphones.  Follow the steps above for headphones for checking out.  These items are due back at closing.
  • A campus phone for public use is located down the hall to the left as you exit the library. Go through the double doors and the phone is mounted on the wall on the right.  The Paddock Library phone is on the shelf below the circulation counter.  When you answer it, please let the patron know that they have reached Paddock Music Library and ask how you can help them.  If you are unable to assist them, pass the phone to a staff person.
  • Remotes for equipment in the Media Room or in the Front Study Room (Hart-Grinnell Audiovisual Center) are located in the top right metal drawer below the hold shelf. They have barcodes on them for checking out to library patrons.
  • Y-adapters for connecting two sets of headphones to listen to the same media at once are kept in the metal drawer to the right directly below the headphone cubbies.
