Wellesley (4/16 - 4/17)

Jesse Victoroff and Connie Lee broke to varsity semifinals and placed 4th overall! This earned them an additional 6 qual points to bring them to a total of 18.25 points each, right over the 14-point threshold to qualify for APDA Nationals. Jesse and Connie are the first debaters from Dartmouth to qualify for Nationals since 2012. Additionally, since Wellesley was the last regular season tournament of the year before Nationals, their result at this tournament allowed them to secure 32nd Team of the Year and for Dartmouth to secure 20th College of the Year for 2016-2017. Congratulations to everyone for contributing to Dartmouth's most successful year in a long time!

Queen's University NorthAms (1/22 - 1/23)

Dartmouth attended the North American Championships for the first time this year, sending 3 teams and 1 adjudicator to the tournament at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario to debate in the specific NorthAms motions format. Congratulations to Amanda Zhou for breaking to elimination rounds as an adjudicator!

Welcome back to Dartmouth for 16W! As a reminder, Dartmouth parliamentary debate practices are always open. Come to Carpenter 201F at 7:30 PM every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday (or just some of those days). We will typically have some new members joining at the start of winter term, so it's a good time to come check out the team; we'll teach you anything you need to know.

Congrats to our debaters for these January tournament results!

CUNY (1/08 - 1/09)

Jesse Victoroff, Connie Lee, Michael Everett, and Rick Dionne attended CUNY during the first weekend of term and all broke to varsity quarters! Jesse and Connie placed 5th overall and Jesse was 7th speaker. Amazingly, Rick and Michael made it to varsity semis and placed 4th overall, with Michael as the 6th varsity speaker! Because they advanced to varsity semis as a novice teams, they also automatically were the top novice team, and Michael was the top novice speaker. Rick was additionally the 5th place novice speaker. Congratulations for an incredibly impressive and successful weekend.
