Introduction

“I don’t see divorce as a failure. I see it as the end to a story. In a story, everything has an end and a beginning.” -Olga Kurylenko

My family life has caused me to view my life in a series of phases. Each of these phases have been defined by particular family dynamics that have drastically changed over the course of time. This assignment has afforded me the opportunity to evaluate my family not only from my own personal experience, but through the eyes of my parents as well. It was my sole intention to interview my parents in order to acquire an understanding of who they are, how they have come to think, and what influences have affected their beliefs of the family unit and how they fit into it. It is with this understanding that I have been able to make sense of, what at first, seemed like pure chaos. So here it is, the Fowler narrative.
