About SPARCL

The Spatial Archaeometry Lab (SPARCL), based in the Department of Anthropology at Dartmouth, is dedicated to the development and implementation of novel geospatial methods to explore the human past.  We rely on a suite of emerging remote sensing technologies alongside archaeological survey, excavation, and artifactual analysis to find new ways to discover, document, and interpret the archaeological record.

In addition to our own projects, SPARCL collaborates on many other field and analytic projects worldwide, including projects funded through the Spatial Archaeometry Research Collaborations program.

SPARCL maintains a research and teaching lab on Dartmouth’s main campus (Silsby 317) as well as an off-campus research facility, the Dartmouth Archaeology Station at Lewiston (DASL), to support archaeological fieldwork and experiential learning.
