POINTS OF DEPARTURE: The Global Origins of the Vietnam War

A Conference at Dartmouth College  (July 12-15, 2017)

This conference is a gathering of leading historians and other scholars of Modern Vietnam and the Vietnam War.  All participants are contributing essays to The Cambridge History of the Vietnam War, a major new reference work from Cambridge University Press. The main purpose of this conference is to read and discuss the draft chapters that each of us are preparing for inclusion in Volume I of the collection, entitled Origins.

This conference is hosted by Edward Miller (Department of History, Dartmouth College) and Lien-Hang T. Nguyen (Columbia University), the co-editors of the forthcoming volume, and Debbie Gershenowitz of Cambridge University Press.  It is funded with the generous support of the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of Dartmouth College, and the Conant 1879 Memorial Lectureship and the Robert 1931 and Ruth Fraser Fund.
