The mission of NH AHEC is to develop innovative approaches that meet the health needs of the diverse populations by enhancing the knowledge, skills, and capacity of the health care workforce and New Hampshire communities. Our goals:
DIVERSITY
To increase interest in and knowledge about health and public health careers and career training among individuals from rural, disadvantaged, and/or underrepresented minority populations in New Hampshire.
DISTRIBUTION
To improve access to healthcare in New Hampshire by facilitating the placement of health professions students in communities where they are most needed.PRACTICE TRANSFORMATION
To increase the ability of practicing health professionals and their patients to improve population health.
These goals are met through three interconnected program areas:- Developing and training NH AHEC Scholars.
- Building a “pipeline” for high school students to learn about health professions and for health professions students to become engagedwith rural, disadvantaged and/or underserved populations.
- Educating the current workforce in practice transformationto a value-based payment structure.
Northern New Hampshire AHEC
The Northern NH Area Health Education Center aims to: Ensure rural challenges and solutions are included in workforce development policy both in New Hampshire and nationally. Ensure an adequately trained workforce exists in rural New Hampshire by providing continuing medical education and other training programs for all levels of North Country health care providers and to expand opportunities for North Country young people to learn about pursue careers in the health professions.Connecting students to careers, professionals to communities, and communities to better health.
Southern New Hampshire AHEC
The Southern New Hampshire Area Health Education Center (SNHAHEC) is a community-based organization currently serving Sullivan, Hillsborough, Merrimack, Strafford, Cheshire, and Rockingham counties.Our mission is to develop, promote, and coordinate community and academic multi-disciplinary partnerships for health professions education. We focus on underserved communities and provide education for students, practicing health professionals, and members of southern New Hampshire communities.
