The Behrman lab is part of the Department of Biological Sciences at Dartmouth. We are interested in how organisms evolve to integrate sensory stimuli—from one another or from their physical surroundings—to produce different behaviors.
We use Drosophila to integrate evolutionary genomics and neuroscience to elucidate the intertwined questions of behavior evolution:
the genetic and neural mechanisms of how behavior evolves
and
how behavior affects evolution
