We are looking for a research technician to join the lab in autumn 2024. Stay tuned for official posting! For now, if you have interest please contact Emily Behrman with your CV, research experience and interests to initiate a dialog and be directly contacted when the job is posted.

The interdisciplinary nature of our research makes several routes to join our lab. Each program differs in their relative focus, but the strength of our research group grows from building connections and insight across these diverse fields of study. We value students with interdisciplinary inquiry and all students in our group will be involved with the ecology/evolution, molecular biology and neuroscience communities at Dartmouth College, the Geisel School of Medicine, and the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.

The Behrman Lab is housed the Department of Biological Sciences and has affiliations with three graduate programs at Dartmouth College:

Students identify a faculty member before applying to the Dartmouth EEES graduate program. Please contact Emily Behrman directly with your CV, relevant coursework, and a brief description of your research experience and interests to discuss opportunities before you submit your application.

Students must first be admitted to the Dartmouth MCB graduate program before joining the lab. MCB does not have direct admissions to particular labs. Current Dartmouth graduate students in MCB should email Emily Behrman to discuss rotation opportunities.

Students must first be admitted to the IND graduate program before joining the lab, IND does not have direct admissions to particular labs. Current Dartmouth graduate students in IND should email Emily Behrman to discuss rotation opportunities.

All PhD programs include tuition, a living stipend, and access to a variety of campus resources in affiliation with the Guarini School of Graduate Studies. Applications are due in December for start in the autumn of the following year (see each program website for exact dates). There is no application fee and GRE scores are not required.

Successful candidates are expected to have established a strong PhD research program. Interested applicants should send a CV and cover letter expressing specific research interests and the names of three references directly to Emily Behrman.  Details about your past experiences, future goals, and how joining the lab will help you reach those goals are extremely helpful in judging project fit.

Dartmouth has a number of mechanisms to help support undergraduate research, including:

Current Dartmouth undergraduates should contact Emily Behrman directly with your CV, a brief description of your research interest, and your potential availability to discuss current opportunities in the lab.

Undergraduates from outside of Dartmouth who are interested in summer internships should apply to the ASURE program. Applications are typically due in February (see website for dates).
