Minutes – July 9, 2019 – Approved August 13, 2019

The meeting opened at 4 pm at the Howe Library.

1.         June 11 Minutes

The minutes for June 11 were approved as submitted
2.         UVTA Trail Report

Partridge to Woodcock
site visit to be schedule before next meeting
Tunis Road
conditions much worse than previous reported
larger wet area on southern part
River Trail
Sean looked at east side of road
could be made accessible with minimal effort
some drainage issues
on west side, large patch of poison ivy
test area had been set up with plastic and wood chips
Bill will check on status
cost for materials for bank work is $500 for hemlock timbers and rebar
Great Hollow
stone work done
Girl Brook East
Vicki is looking into gravel problem
leaner at triple intersection should be reported to DPW
Trail Corps
o   cost is $500 per day

o   they could do Ray School trails on August 7

3.         Trescott Lands

Eastside Trail built and usable, but needs some work
machine built trail planned for this summer
next committee meeting on Thursday
signposts have arrived and are at town office
4.         AT Day Hike Map

has been printed
copies will be dropped off at town office
last changes requested by committee, especially scale, not done
we should ask Hawk at ATC to make the trail through the field "official"
possible name is "Hudson Farm Connector"
5.         Bears near Highway 38

Bill relayed report to Michael Hinsley at Hanover Fire Dept.
the town can send alerts
Nancy concerned about presence of cubs
Bill to check on this with Michael
people need to watch garbage and bird feeders
6.         Trail Reports

Bill referred to agenda for trail reports
more reports because of Trail Adopters
Upper Mink Brook trail
concern about possible wet stream crossing
Highway 38
downed trees, invasive plants
possible Hypertherm project
Nancy will provide more details
7.         Adopt-a-Trail

program working well
35 trails covered by around 20 adopters
8.         Other Business

 

Hugh mentioned trail usage by non-motorized vehicles
one example is battery-powered bikes
may become an issue
Class VI Road Committee
being created by Conservation Commission
will be chaired by Hugh
Bernie Waugh is a resource - wrote book on Class VI roads
