June 27, 2024 - Final Update
Dear DAC Community,
While it seems as if it has taken ages and sped by at the same time, we find ourselves at the end of several months of an intensive and productive work process undertaken by several Dartmouth departments and individuals. Hard work and dedication have abounded giving me confidence that a smooth transition for faculty and staff moving from the support of the Dartmouth Geisel TDI DAC Service Center to a self-managed DUA model will be successful. Please find below the final updates from the DAC for your reference.
DUA Management
- CMS Check & Encrypted File Federal Express Shipments
- CMS DUA invoices for fees exceeding corporate credit card maximum single purchase limits require a check to be issued for payment from Dartmouth College. Checks and encrypted files are required to be shipped via Federal Express (FedEx) to CMS. If you do not have an active FedEx Account contact Jennifer Rickards to request shipping assistance.
- CMS News/Updates - ResDAC Website
The DAC has monitored and shared information from these updates when they applied to DAC. It is recommended with the DAC closure that you save the above link and check it occasionally for fast access to the most up to date ongoings at ResDAC & CMS. A recent update: DUA Extension and VRDC Access Renewal Reminder includes details on distinguishing multiple expiration dates and the processes required for renewal. This is a well-timed notice with the transition of DUA management moving from the DAC to DUA Additional Contacts. DAC General Data Resources Archive
The DAC has completed the transitioning of all actively used resources to locations for easy access by researchers. The final resources we relocated are indicated below.
- TDI Central has documentation on processes for requesting access to TDI Licensed data as well as direct purchase of data from the providers for:
- American Hospital Association (AHA)
- First Data Bank (FDB)
- The National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES) created by CMS assigns unique identifiers to health care providers. National Provider Identifier (NPI) has been the standard identifier for all HIPAA-covered entities (health care providers) since 2007.
- The National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) has a central repository containing the NPI.
- Analytic Memo
- Previously required for any DAC project review, this document can be helpful to researchers when preparing for new projects. A blank “template” is available to download in TDI Central.
