The DAC is responsible for ensuring research projects using CMS data which are managed by the DAC obtain a project specific IRB and maintain it throughout the life span of the DUA.
All IRB inquiries should be directed to the Dartmouth Committee for the Protection of Human Subjects (CPHS) office.

The estimated timeline for issuance of a new IRB from submission to CPHS to approval may be several months.
Obtaining a Dartmouth IRB
- Submit a request through Dartmouth's CPHS RAPPORT site
- Provide a copy of the IRB Approval Letter to the DAC
Note: The IRB title must match the CMS DUA title and include a HIPAA waiver for CMS DUA approval.
Maintaining a Dartmouth IRB
- Renew IRB as required through Dartmouth's CPHS RAPPORT site
- Provide a copy of the IRB Renewal Letter to the DAC
Note: The DAC must be notified of any changes to a project specific IRB protocol and project contacts.
