Restoring Deleted Files

There is a hidden directory in all the folders below called .snapshot (it is hidden from view)

/myhome
/projects
/general_data
/general_resources/data_prep

To restore a file:

  1. Navigate to the directory that the file was deleted or overwritten
  2. Change directory to .snapshot (you will not be able to see it, but it is there)  d1215v8@sasser1:~>   cd .snapshot
  3. List the files therein:
    d1215v8@sasser1:~/.snapshot>  ls
    SIQ-58578f542fb840b6937d1f35400baa7d-latest

You can ignore the directories starting with SIQ-* in the .snapshot directory as these are used for the snapshot generation.

Important Update: DAC staff are working remotely in support of social distancing efforts. As a result, there may be slower than usual response times and reprioritization of work.
