Let us answer your questions

Q: How can I join the Dartmouth Graduate Consulting Group?
A: Please complete a membership application. Note, there is no fee to join.

Q: I don’t have any consulting experience, can I still apply for membership?
A: Absolutely, we are looking for a wide diversity of qualified candidates, who bring different perspectives and skills, regardless if they’ve had any previous consulting experience. However, we do ask that those applying to be willing to commit 10-12 weeks for a case working as a good-faith, supportive, and reliable team member in order to solve issues at hand regarding the project.

Q: Are projects still happening during COVID-19? If so, can I work on a project from a remote site?
A: We are conducting virtual projects this term. Most meetings and activities will take place independently, or over zoom. In rare circumstances, a visit/tour of the client’s site are sometimes necessary. However, we should be able to make most circumstances work.

Q: How long are the cases?
A: Each case will be 10-12 weeks long. They generally fit in the full length of a Dartmouth Academic Quarter.

Q: How many hours per week do these projects require?
A: Based on previous cases these projects require a weekly input of around 5-7 hours but this will vary from case to case.

Q: Are only graduate students allowed at DGCG events or work on projects?
A: We are a Registered Student Organization funded by the Guarini Graduate Student Council, as such priority is given to graduate students, but all are welcome to apply and participate in any event DGCG hosts, unless otherwise specified.

Q: Will I get to decide which project I work on?
Interested students will fill out an online application, and the Executive Board will assign each student to a project that is complimentary to their professional skillsets.
