Administrative Core
The broad and long-range objectives for the Administrative Core (Core A) is to oversee and manage the Program Project scientific cores, projects, key personnel, and career development of early-stage investigators. Core A will be responsible to provide the infrastructure and integration of scientific cores and projects to support the central theme of the PPG as an integrated system applying implementation science and clinical informatics to promote the health of populations.
Clinical Decision Support Implementation Core (CDSImp Core)
The CDSImp Core will provide implementation science methodologies to rigorously evaluate the path to adoption and sustainment of each project in healthcare settings. This innovative Core is focused on integration of clinical decision support tools in electronic health records (EHR) using state-of-the-science implementation science principles to optimize likelihood of adoption and sustained implementation and impact in clinical care. This is a critically important topic in healthcare, with growing recognition of the powerful potential of clinical decision support tools in the context of EHR ecosystems to prevent and treat health care conditions to reduce mortality and morbidity and reduce costly healthcare utilization.
Healthcare Artificial Intelligence Integration Core (HAI2C)
The HAI2C will act as a hub for the operationalization of AI tools in the clinical ecosystem by serving as a resource to the project teams and the larger VUMC/Dartmouth research community on the full scope of activities to develop and deploy an AI/ML model and bring it from “bench-to-bedside”. While there is a strong community of researchers at VUMC involved in AI/ML model development, there is not currently a dedicated resource available to the community to assist in the model development, deployment and model sustainment process. The HAI2C represents a unique multidisciplinary integrated resource of clinicians, data scientists, clinical informaticists, program developers, AI/ML experts, and operational IT to create high-quality, clinically relevant, and sustainable AI clinical decision support tools that can be integrated into clinical practice.
