Margaret (Margie) Ackerman, PhD, is a Professor of Engineering, Thayer School of Engineering and Professor of Microbiology and Immunology, Geisel School of Medicine. She conducts interdisciplinary vaccine research at the interface of biomedical and engineering sciences: developing high throughput experimental and analytical tools to define correlates of protection from infectious diseases. She has led multiple multi-PI/multi-institution projects related to preclinical and clinical vaccine development, including major efforts supported through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Collaboration for HIV Vaccine Discovery program with cumulative responsibility for >$35M in support for over 40 projects with industry, academic, and government sponsors in the past 10 years.
