About

The Freidberg Lab studies the social, political and ecological life of food supply chains.

From soil to shelf, many kinds of actors participate and interact in food supply chains, from subterranean microbes to multinational “big brands.” As qualitative social scientists, we are especially interested in the knowledge and expertise that different actors bring to their work, the relationships they forge with each other – often across great geographic and cultural distances – and their visions of sustainable food and farming futures.

Our current research examines the diverse visions of regenerative agriculture taking shape in the United States, and the organizations and movements seeking to realize them. See here for more information about this National Science Foundation-funded project.
