Dartmouth has offered a tremendous lecture series this fall, as part of a class about the 2024 U.S. Election (great job, Russ Muirhead, Bill Wohlforth, and Herschel Nachlis!) As part of this amazing series we welcomed to Dartmouth defense intellectual Elbridge Colby, whom I was delighted to moderate in a conversation about US national security policy. I’m always saying that Americans need to be debating their foreign policy more than we are, and Colby really has ignited one among the GOP: arguing that the changed balance of power and more scarce resources means the United States needs to prioritize in its national security policy.
