For two years in a row, the life expectancy in the US has dropped. In addition to shorter life spans than other high income companies, Americans spend on average 2 or 3 times more annually on healthcare. Many consumers overlook the role that corporations play in this health crisis.Two industries in particular – the food industry and the pharmaceutical industry – have contributed significantly to the obesity and opioid epidemics, which are responsible for a large portion of American deaths.
