Diageo, a multinational alcoholic beverages company, has pulled advertising from SnapChat after the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) banned one of its Captain Morgan ads. The ad, a SnapChat lens, was investigated by the ASA because of questions of whether the lens appeals to people under 18 years of age and is directed to people under the legal drinking age. Because SnapChat users could easily lie about their age, underage users were more likely to come across the ad, thus the ASA decided to ban it. Diageo made the responsible decision to pull advertising from the platform globally but would consider returning if new safeguards meet ASA standards. Read the full story here.
