Ninth Annual C. Everett Koop, MD Tobacco Treatment Conference: Celebrating Koop’s Centenarian Anniversary, Conquering the Tobacco Epidemic

Our conference theme of “Conquering the Tobacco Epidemic” will address a wide array of topics relevant for Tobacco Treatment. We have carefully chosen topics and speakers in response to input from prior conference participants (see agenda below). Please join us for a productive day filled with pertinent, cutting-edge information for anyone who wishes to help people reach a goal of freedom from tobacco.

Registration

Registration is online and by credit card only. Register Now  The registration fees are as follows:

  • Dartmouth-Hitchcock Employee and Affiliates: No Charge (Online registration is still required for planning purposes)
  • All Others: $150

Preregistration and payment required. The registration deadline is 10 days prior to the activity date. There will be no refunds after that date. Call for Abstracts

Submission deadline: Monday, August 28, 2017
The Planning Committee invites the submission of abstracts for poster presentations at the Ninth Annual C. Everett Koop, MD Tobacco Treatment Conference. We encourage the submission of abstracts describing research in nicotine and tobacco. Abstracts may focus on tobacco use in all forms, including smokeless tobacco and electronic nicotine delivery systems (e-cigarettes), as well as prevention and cessation efforts, tobacco control policy, and product regulation, among other topics. Abstracts should summarize empirical research findings, and will be evaluated by the committee on the basis of scientific merit.

Learning Outcome(s)
At the conclusion of the learning activity, participants should be able to better support the population of tobacco users through improved identification, support, and treatment.
Accreditation
Dartmouth-Hitchcock is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Dartmouth-Hitchcock designates this live activity for a maximum of 5.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Dartmouth-Hitchcock Nursing Continuing Education Council is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. This educational activity carries 5.5 contact hours. Social Workers: Application for social work continuing education credits has been submitted. Please contact Paula Therrien at (603) 653-3619 for the status of social work CE accreditation. Alcohol and Drug Counselors: This training will be submitted for approval by the NH Board of Licensing for Alcohol and Other Drug Use Professionals.
Receiving Credit

The following steps must be completed in order to receive credit for this event:

  • Register for the event online
  • Attend the event or session(s). A credit tracking sheet will be provided.
  • Complete the online evaluation - Must be submitted within 30 days after the activity

Accessing the Online Evaluation (The evaluation is available the day after the event)

  • Log onto https://ce.dartmouth-hitchcock.org/login.aspx
  • Click on the My Activities link in the left side menu. Then click on the name of the activity you attended.
  • Click on the Resume button.
  • Click the Continue button until the Evaluation tab is active, and then click the Launch button.
  • Fill out the evaluation and then click submit. Credits will then be applied to your transcript. You can view your updated transcript by clicking on the "View Transcript" button.
