Dartmouth College Library is a Library Standards Alliance member of the National Information Standards Organization (NISO).

Library staff members can view live or archived versions of a number of NISO events throughout the year. These events include webinars, virtual conferences, and open teleconferences.

Only one Dartmouth connection is allowed for live events, so registration and connecting must be coordinated across the Library. Cataloging and Metadata Services has offered to do this coordination, including:

  • posting information on this blog about upcoming events, with contact info to use if you want to view it live,
  • coordinating with you if you want to organize a live viewing event,
  • registering for all events, and,
  • posting links for the archived versions on the Libopen Wiki "Webinars List" page.

The archived events can be viewed by any library staff member at any time during the year.

Shaun Akhtar is the primary contact for these events. Cecilia Tittemore is the secondary contact.

Cataloging and Metadata Services at Dartmouth College Library is launching a new blog.  This blog will help readers keep current with new ideas, trends, and events in the world of library cataloging and library metadata.  In scope are:

  • updates on department work and investigations,
  • thoughts about library metadata trends and directions,
  • links to articles and postings about interesting developments in cataloging and metadata, and
  • announcements of webinars and other professional development opportunities.

Shaun Akhtar and Cecilia Tittemore are co-editors.  Please send ideas for the blog to them.
