Any building or project requiring telecommunication services to be provided or supported by Network Services must follow these specifications.  Network Services Engineering must be included in any design phase discussions and planning.  Service to a location may not be provided if telecommunications facilities have not been installed without coordination with and approval by Network Services Engineering prior to construction.  Construction and equipment costs to properly support telecommunications service will be the responsibility of the project.

Any device which connects to the Network (including but not limited to Building Automation Systems, Audio/Video, IoT devices, servers, desktops, and mobile devices) must be approved by Network Services Engineering if support for that connection is intended.  Not all devices are compatible with enterprise networks such as the one on campus.  Network Services cannot support any connection to a device that is incompatible with the Network.

Information Security must also approve any device or service which stores or transmits Dartmouth data prior to its purchase and use.

Devices which use Radio Frequency or Wireless technology must comply with the Frequency Coordination process.
