The Dartmouth Ombuds

Trail through ferns in Pine Park

Independent. Confidential. Informal. Impartial.

The Dartmouth Ombuds is a unique resource available to staff, faculty, graduate and professional students and post-docs (‘visitors’). Working with the Ombuds can help voice concerns, clarify goals, and consider options so visitors can make their own best decisions about next steps whether they’re problem solving, in conflict, or making life choices. Any question, concern, issue, problem or conflict affecting a visitor’s Dartmouth experience is welcome.

Ombuds work is tailored toward each visitor’s unique experience to help problem solve and manage conflict with dignity, fairness, and equity.  Meeting with the Ombuds office is always voluntary and visitors are encouraged to read the International Ombuds Association (IOA) Standards of Practice & Ethical Principles.

Meetings can be made with the Ombuds by appointment and are available in-person, through video conferencing, or if necessary over the phone.
