About

The Ong Lab studies the complexity of coupled human-natural systems including agriculture and cities.

Agriculture is an example of a complex adaptive system, where humans impact ecosystems, which in turn feedback to impact humans. In our research, we utilize techniques from agroecology, complex systems and theoretical ecology to understand how agricultural systems, and the ecological communities within them, are maintained under social and environmental stress.
