Commencement
The Commencement Committee is working to ensure that our commencement is equitable and includes student voices and needs from all across campus. We are working with the College’s commencement committee, the Dean of the College, and other stakeholders to ensure that translation services are available for families and that students are included in all commencement decision-making.
Fee-Free Campus
The Fee-Free Campus Committee is working toward creating a campus where unnecessary costs do not hinder the Dartmouth experience. We are gathering student feedback about specific areas of concern, which range from laundry and printing fees to the limits of meal plans and campus parking, and coordinating advocacy efforts with other student groups to build a more socio-economically inclusive campus.
Indigenous Studies
The Indigenous Studies Committee is dedicated to supporting and implementing an Indigenous Studies requirement under the World Culture requirement for Dartmouth students. We are working with the registrar, Dean Brown, and Professor Calloway to make progress on this goal. As an institution founded on unceded Abenaki territory to educate Indigenous youth, this requirement will better allow students to fulfill our charter’s mission.
Financial Accessibility
The Financial Accessibility Committee met with Money Matters, a group of faculty and staff dedicated to addressing financial accessibility on campus, in order to offer the student perspective on the various visible and invisible costs associated with being a Dartmouth student. The committee is running a biannual textbook drive for the Library’s reserve collection in collaboration with Student Assembly.
Committee Members: Anjali Chikkula, Erika Ogino, Hyemin Han, Sanat Mohapatra, Sruti Pari, Yifan He
Student-Trustee Interaction
The Committee for Increased Student-Trustee Interaction has worked diligently this year to create an institutional vehicle to connect the student body with the College’s Board of Trustees. Enhanced student interaction with the Board will strengthen its decision-making capabilities by providing critical insights on the realities of student life at Dartmouth. The committee has researched student-trustee interaction at other schools, met with administrators and Board members, and submitted memos to President Hanlon and the Board of Trustees
Committee Members: Jess Campanile, Luke Cuomo, Maya Perkins, Tim Holman, Zach Cherian
Equivalent Social Spaces
The Equivalent Social Spaces Committee works to enhance the inclusive social options on campus by bringing students across campus together in a fun and safe environment. This term, the committee hosted “Bar One” in One Wheelock. Our goal is to make Bar One a consistent, reliable on-campus bar open during the hours and nights college students want to be going out.
Committee Members: Cris Cano, James Park, Kate Shiber, Sahil Abbi, Sunny Drescher
