Hold the motor against the wheel of the gyroscope to spin it up to maximum speed. One can lift the whole unit and move it around to show that the angular direction vector remains fixed in the same position. One can hang a weight on one arm to demonstrate precession. One can push on one arm to show that it moves in a direction other than the direction of the applied force; this is especially good to have students do themselves so they feel and experience this counter-intuitive behavior.
