1D60.34 Shoot the Monkey

Courses: P3, P13

A monkey doll is held to the ceiling by an electromagnet. When the golf ball is launched it trips the switch to release the money. If the ball was aimed directly at the monkey on launch, it will hit the monkey when they are close to the floor.

We do have a smaller, mobile version of this demo that can be set up in rooms other than 111 and 104.

The electromagnet and/or monkey attachment must be adjusted to be just barely strong enough to hold the monkey, otherwise residual magnetism will not allow it to fall immediately. This can be achieved by adding a layer or two of tape, as needed, to prevent direct contact between the two metal pieces.

There are 4 nails in the gun that serve as quite accurate sights for aiming.

In room 104 the electrical setup is not obvious. The electromagnet is wired from the ceiling to a connector in the stage left bench. This connector must be jumpered to the adjacent connector, which itself is wired to a connector in the stage right bench. This stage right/podium connector is where the golf ball launcher needs to be connected.
