Transportation Vision for Lebanon

Transportation Vision for My City

By Frank Gould

There is a fair city named Lebanon

whose by-ways have long known congestion

let’s make positive change

across the whole range

from bike-ped to car to ten ton.

Let’s plan what is good for our town

start where traffic jams seem to abound

on routes 120 and 12A

and side roads on the way

change the flow and end our big frown.

Public views have been changing o’er time

mixed-use is now favored as prime

let’s incentivize pools

for commuters and schools

integrating transport systems’ sublime.

We’ll make our streets safe for our kids

with sidewalks and street calming grids

we’ll design complete streets

including bus seats

and help put carbon gas on the skids.

The planning board needs to take note

whenever they’re planning a vote

look at flow vs. calm

residence, mall, even farm

don’t only float the developer’s boat.

Now it’s time for doing the right thing

coordinate growth with regional planning

partners public and private

air, land, other things transit

let’s keep Lebanon growing, Ka-ching.
