Summary: The subject of this documentary memory is the history of the twentieth century. Great themes that have shaped the century are shown: wars, industrial development, and modern art. Images are taken from a cemetery somewhere in Brazil, to which the film maker adds fictitious names and birth and death years. The filmmaker builds life stories for these individuals around the history of the century in which they lived. The title was taken from the gate of a cemetery in the state of São Paulo.
