What is a cappella?
A cappella is music without instruments! When we sing a cappella, we make all the music with our voices.
When are auditions for the Rockapellas?
At the start of every fall term, the Rockapellas hold joint auditions with all the other Dartmouth a cappella groups! They usually take place on the first weekend of fall term. Keep an eye on your blitz for exact dates!
How can I prepare for auditions?
For the first round of auditions, we will ask you to sing scales, do some pitch matching, and sing a verse and chorus or 1 minute of a song of your choice. Some of our members auditioned with pop songs, musical theater songs, and even rap songs!
Do I need any previous singing experience to join the Rocks?
Absolutely not! We accept auditionees of all different levels. Some of our members never learned to read music before joining the Rocks!
Do I need to know a lot about social justice to join the Rocks?
Nope! We are committed to being a safe space for all people to learn about social justice!
