Welcome to South House!

Dear South House ’29s and Transfer Students,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to South House! As one of six House Communities on campus, we are a space to build friendships, care for yourself and each other, find a sense of grounding on campus, and expand your horizons. The House Communities mission is built around three pillars: supporting community belonging across generations and life experiences among all students, faculty, and staff; fostering residential continuity for Dartmouth undergraduates; and creating opportunities for intellectual and cultural engagement outside the classroom. We host social and wellness-oriented events, take off-campus trips, create space for meaningful discussions over shared meals with wise and creative people, do cool programs with campus partners like the Hood Museum and the Hopkins Center for the Arts, and help you to mark major rites of passage across your Dartmouth experience. The House Communities also organize intramural sports as well as friendly competitions to earn House Cup points. Starting college is a moment of transformation and transition. These are – and will likely remain – unusual times on college campuses, in this country, and the world. The South House Leadership Team is here to help you navigate. As a way of being in touch with us and learning more about what we do, Follow us on Instagram and check out our SoHo Weekly archive to get a further sense of who we are and what we do. As a member of South House, your ideas are valued and your opinions matter. So, before you get to campus, please complete this brief survey to help us learn about you so we can help you make this community a home. We can’t wait to welcome you to Hanover on September 3.

Warmly,
Prof. Sienna Craig
