HISTORY

The House Communities were founded in 2016 to promote Continuity, Community, and Intellectual Engagement on campus. Our official House color is black and we unveiled our insignia in the fall of 2017. The South House insignia (pictured below) is a fleur-de-lis made up of lilacs.

Each section of the fleur-de-lis represents each of the upperclass dorms: Topliff, New Hamp, and the Lodge. The lilac was chosen because it is the New Hampshire state flower. The band that brings the cluster together represents unity.

Since inception, the Fayerweathers (North, Mid, and South) are where the majority of first year South House residents live. Construction for building renewal will begin Summer of 2024 and this will afford other accommodations to be made.
