The inaugural Academy convened during the week of August 4-10, 2024 and hosted 18 tribal government leaders in Hanover, New Hampshire to consider best governance practices that are appropriate for their unique tribal nations, including
- Strategies for enhancing intergovernmental relations with state and federal government
- Stimulating their local reservation economies
- Managing reservation natural resources
- Improving the delivery and outcomes of health care systems
- Developing more effective systems of criminal justice within their tribal communities
PaaWee Rivera (Pueblo of Pojoaque) Special Assistant to the President and Chief of Staff, Office of Scheduling & Advance, joined Dartmouth College President Sian Beilock at the closing ceremonies.
The costs of travel and attendance was covered by Dartmouth College. The next session of the TLA will be held in late July 2025.
