Exhibition Curator:
Sophie Kamhi ’21 graduated with a modified major in English and art studies. She spent the 2020-2021 year as the Class of 1954 curatorial intern for the Hood Museum of Art, working with Jessica Hong, former curator of Global Contemporary art, and Museum Director John Stomberg. Sophie’s interest in myth intersects with her thesis work in the English Department on the Celtic myth of Tristan and Isolde. She sees myths as holding enduring power and insight into contemporary social and political issues, as well as continuing to entertain us. With this exhibition, she hopes to emphasize the continued relevance of myth and prompt viewers to consider how we preserve our best and worst traits in tales for future audiences. Outside the classroom, Sophie was the captain of the Women’s Rowing team and conducted research in the medical humanities.
