The Westletter: Week of 10/16/16

THE WESTLETTER for the week of 10/16/16

— House News —
  • Congrats to the IM soccer team who finished second in the inaugural House league with a record of 3-1-1. We went down to School House in a hard-fought final, but had a great season and are looking forward to future IMs. We still have a chance to play some IM Flag Football later this week, as we need a couple more players — if interested please contact IM captain Ryan.R.Monasch.19@dartmouth.edu.
  • On Sunday we had a lovely first annual West House Fellows Dinner, with dozens of our faculty, staff, and student members enjoying a delicious meal and engaging conversation at the House Professor Residence.
— Upcoming House Events —
  • Debate Watching Party: We’ll have our third Debate Watching Party WEDNESDAY NIGHT in the Hyphen from 9-10:30pm with the big screen and FREE EBA’s. Don’t miss it!
  • We have four FREE student tickets to the Barbary Coast Jazz Ensemble at the HOP on Saturday night. If you’d like to claim a free ticket please contact Pamela.K.Duffy@dartmouth.edu. For a full list of shows with FREE House tickets see: https://sites.dartmouth.edu/west-house/2016/10/04/shows-at-the-hop/
  • Resident Fellow Sophie Leung will be hosting a “Do I want to go to Med School?” Study Break for West House members (although all are welcome) on Sunday October 30th at 4pm. If you are concerned about the post-Homecoming work you have to catch up on, have no fear! The event is short and sweet, and there will be homemade baked goods for you to enjoy!
  • Weather permitting, in the next week or two we’ll be organizing a House stargazing night up at Shattuck Observatory. Keep an eye out for details.
— Other Announcements —
  • From Westian Jackie Seskin ’17 and members of Alpha Phi sorority:

The event is capped at 200 attendees, so hurry and buy tickets below!

We really hope that your House community will come out and join us, and we’d like to introduce a friendly fundraising competition between House Communities. The housing community that raises the most money for charity will receive a House pizza party (and bragging rights).
