What is ACE?
ACE is an AI enabled search tool that accesses static data from the Organization, Regulations, and Courses (ORC) catalog, Timetable, Engage.Explore.Excel, and other sources of curricular information. ACE helps students find courses that match their interests and curricular requirements and share this information with their advisors.
ACE is currently (Feb. '25) in an open beta test with all members of the Class of '28.
How do I access ACE?
Dartmouth students, faculty, and staff may access ACE at dartgo.org/ace. You will be prompted to login through Duo authentication if you are not already logged in. ACE is only available to Dartmouth users at this point.
How do I provide feedback about ACE?
We value your feedback! Please use this feedback form to share your thoughts.
How can ACE help?
ACE is presently designed to assist first-year students researching courses for Spring 2025 courses. It helps you explore course options based on your interests, requirements, and schedule.
A typical conversation follows these steps:
- Fall and Winter Course Review: ACE asks about the courses you took in Fall and what you are taking Winter term.
- Requirement Check: ACE discusses first-year writing and language requirements.
- Exploration: You can explore both requirements and courses across the curriculum.
- Report Generation: When you are ready to end the chat, click “End Conversation,” ACE generates a report you can download, save, and edit.
- Share Summary with an Advisor: If you choose, you can share the report with your advisor by email.
Does ACE have real-time data?
No, ACE does not access real-time course or student data (such as seats available or your data from DartHub). It was last updated on 2/10/2025.
It uses data exported from:
- Organization, Regulations, and Courses 2024-25 (ORC)
- Timetable of Class Meetings
- Writing 5 Course Descriptions
- First-Year Seminar Descriptions
- First-year course recommendations from Engage, Explore, Excel
It is important to verify any information provided by ACE through the linked sources above and with your advisor.
Does ACE “remember” information from previous chats?
- You can view previous chats via the left menu, but once a conversation is ended or the tab is closed, it cannot be continued.
- Starting a new chat means ACE does not access previously submitted information.
- The report generated at the end of a chat is not shared with anyone else.
What are some sample prompts for ACE?
To begin, ACE will ask to know what courses you have taken or are currently taking:
- “In the fall term I took [course 1, course 2, and course 3]”
- “This winter I'm registered for [course 4, course 5, and course 6]”
With this information, you can start exploring course options with ACE. To get the most out of ACE, ask specific, open-ended questions. Here are some examples:
Exploration:
- “I would like to find a different course for [course 5] that is also a FYS and offered before noon.“
- "What courses should I take if I'm interested in sustainability and environmental policy?"
- "Can you recommend classes that combine AI and the humanities?"
- "I elected [COURSE], but did not get in. Could you suggest some other courses about similar topics offered this term?"
Degree Requirements:
- "What are the prerequisites for the Computer Science major?"
- "Which courses fulfill the first-year writing and first-year seminar requirements?"
- "I'm on the BEMA language path, what do you recommend I take for my next language course?"
Planning:
- "What classes are offered this term that align with my intended focus on global health?"
- "Can you help me identify options for experiential learning?"
- "Could you find all First-Year Seminar courses offered at the 10 hour?"
