Frequently Asked Questions
Does CRR always refresh 5 classrooms?
The CRR program has the capacity to refresh up to 5 classrooms per year without affecting the availability of classrooms. However, the number of classrooms we can work on each term is limited by several factors: budget constraints, the number of classrooms still needing refreshment, the scope and scale of the work required, and the current classroom teaching load.
Who is doing the CRR refreshes?
The CRR program is an initiative of the Office of the Provost, is implemented via a collaboration with the Office of the Registrar, Dartmouth Information Technology Consulting, and Dartmouth Campus Services.
How are classrooms selected?
The CRR program is a collaborative effort involving the Registrar, Information Technology Consulting, and Campus Services, overseeing centrally managed classrooms for Arts & Sciences and Guarini. The Program Manager utilizes a master room list created by the Registrar to identify and prioritize rooms for refresh based on their technology and physical condition. While rooms in greatest need of upgrades are given priority, factors such as building location, budget constraints, and other ongoing projects also influence the schedule. The Program Manager presents a proposed schedule for review by the involved teams before it receives final approval from the Office of the Provost and the Office of the Registrar.
What does it mean when a classroom is refreshed?
When a classroom is refreshed, it is upgraded to meet the baseline standards established by the Dartmouth teams involved in this initiative. This may involve major projects such as rebuilding ceilings, demolishing and constructing new flooring, or completely redesigning and reorienting the classroom. It can also include minor improvements, such as repainting, replacing furniture, and updating technology with equivalent replacements.
The primary goal is to ensure that all classrooms within the program's scope deliver a consistent user experience and an up-to-date teaching environment.
How long with the CRR program last?
The CRR program aims to update all classrooms under its purview to meet baseline standards with an initial refresh by the end of fiscal year 2033. The first maintenance cycle refreshes are scheduled to begin in fiscal year 2028.
How often do classrooms get refreshed?
Classrooms are slated to be refreshed 5 years after their initial refresh.
Can I request that a classroom be refreshed?
Yes, you can! Please provide your feedback using the form available on the website (linked at the top of this page in the menu), or reach out to the Program Manager through the 'Contact Us' page. The CRR program focuses on refreshing classrooms listed by the Office of the Registrar; however, we do record and track all requests submitted and will always strive to assess the eligibility of new rooms for upgrades.
