2021 Molecular Pathogenesis: Mechanisms of Infectious Disease Virtual Conference

Dear colleagues,

The 2021 Molecular Pathogenesis: Mechanisms of Infectious Disease virtual conference is scheduled for July 13-15.  As many of you know, the mission of this long-standing (usually in-person) FASEB conference is to bring together experts from all disciplines of microbiology and infectious diseases, including bacteriology, mycology, parasitology, virology, host response, and drug discovery.  Given the ongoing SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, I’m sure you appreciate the timeliness and importance of this event.

This year’s meeting is chaired by Kim Orth (UT-Southwestern) and co-chaired by Ken Campellone (University of Connecticut).  We are excited about the program, which includes the Bernie Fields Lecture by Andy Camilli (Tufts), and daily keynotes from Andrea Carfi (Moderna) and Dominique Soldati-Favre (Geneva).  Session themes include disease mechanisms, structural biology, drug discovery, drug resistance, metabolism, and host-pathogen interactions.  See the preliminary agenda for more information.

As you will see, the program includes many opportunities for students and post-docs to participate, including a number of short talks selected from submitted abstracts, two poster sessions, a career development workshop, and meet-the-speaker breakout rooms.  To offset the cost of participation for trainees, we expect to distribute a number of “travel” fellowships and several poster awards.  So please consider sharing the information about this meeting with your students and post-docs who are interested in pathogenesis.

Registration is now open.  The abstract submission deadline is June 18th.  We hope that you will join us for some great science.  Even if you are not able to attend, please help advertise this meeting by spreading the word and distributing the link/flyer to potentially-interested colleagues.

Please let us know if you have any questions or want more information.

Sincerely,
Ken Campellone
Kim Orth

PS, note that we will also be seeking someone from the field of virology, parasitology, or mycology to be the co-chair for the 2023 meeting.
