Sharanya Sarkar, a 3rd year PhD candidate in Dr. Bruce Stanton’s lab secured second place in a 3-minute thesis competition organized by Dartmouth Graduate Student Council. The competition was open to graduate students from all departments and provided a platform to present their thesis work to a diverse audience, without any slides and with a 3-minute time constraint. The competition took place on April 26, 2023 and Sharan took home a $250.00 cash prize. Sharanya says, “I discussed how inflammation and infection can be problematic for individuals with Cystic Fibrosis. I also talked about how my research focuses on the isolation of extracellular vesicles from Mesenchymal Stromal Cells, which may hold the potential to reduce inflammation and combat infections in individuals with CF, potentially leading to a new therapy for CF patients. I am honored to have placed second in the competition!”
