Welcome to the Dartmouth Humanitarian Engineering (DHE) website!
We are a completely student-run group at Dartmouth College, focusing on developing engineering-based solutions to worldwide problems. In addition, DHE operates as a college-sponsored organization in collaboration with the Thayer School of Engineering. DHE started as Engineers Without Borders, but we split off around 15 years ago and formed our own student led group to have more autonomy over our projects.
Our primary goal is to organize Dartmouth students and give them the platform to take ideas that they are passionate about and turn them into projects that have tangible impacts on communities around the world.
As a multi-disciplinary club led by students, DHE finds problems that aren’t necessarily being addressed by larger stakeholders. We are open-minded, energetic, innovative, and kind people who deeply value helping others lead a better life. It is a place for people to come and share their ideas about bettering the lives of others who don’t have the same access to education, technology, or engineering to solve their specific issues. We pride ourselves on our innovative yet practical and outcome-based solutions.
In the process, DHE also strives to continually make better engineers, students, and entrepreneurs—members learn various aspects of engineering and business, like ideation and fast-prototyping, CAD-modeling and operating machines all while having fun and advancing a good cause.
