New Member FAQs

So you decided to join the Dartmouth Humanitarian Engineers… What now?

When can you join DHE?

We haven taken members at all points throughout the term and each project has flexibility to accept members according to their timelines. However, it is easiest to begin a project at the beginning of the term in order to maximize time to learn and get immersed in a project.

What are you joining when you join DHE?

You are joining the broader group of DHE, while also joining a specific project team with distinct goals.

Though projects operate on their own with their own internal leadership, each project is a part of the broader DHE group. The executive board is divided to reflect this, and is found here

How much experience with engineering do I need to have to join?

None! DHE is open to all, and the beauty of project based work is that there are always tasks at your skill level. DHE members host presentations about their projects at the beginning and end of the term, but often the best way to learn is to shadow a project teammate and start somewhere. During your time joining DHE, never be afraid to reach out to your project manager, a teammate, or really anyone for help!

Nuts n’ Bolts

When you join DHE, you will be added to several platforms:

1) GroupMe for DHE as a whole

2) GroupMe for your specific DHE project

If you join multiple projects when you join, be sure to get added to all project-specific channels of communication!
