The Digital Lab is a space in Dartmouth College’s Black Family Visual Arts Center in which students can create amazing digital art using state-of-the-art computer programs. It is room 109, with big glass walls in the middle of the first floor in the BVAC.

THE PLAN:

To create an space where students can use the amazingly powerful digital tools available today without feeling constrained by the shackles of unfamiliar technology.

THE GOAL:

A room bustling with artistic energy and collaboration, with awesome digital art being produced every day.

THE MANAGER:

Jess is a dabbler in many crafts and art forms who enjoys learning and using new software. She does some surface pattern design, and is always looking to learn new things so she can help others to do so as well!

THE NITTY-GRITTY:

Hours and Access:
Jess will primarily work from 9-5, but will hold workshops in the evenings on occasion.
The lab itself is open to FILM and SART students 24/7. However, one of the printers is only available during Jess’s hours.
Requests can be sent to digital.lab@dartmouth.edu and are subject to review by the digital lab specialist and the FILM and SART department chairs.
Rules:
–No food is allowed in the lab, and drink only in closed containers
–All work stored in “Project Storage/First_Last/”

–The desktop on each computer will be flushed of all extraneous files on the last day of the month. If your files are not in Project Storage, they will be deleted.
