Combining Sections
There is a Canvas menu item available called “Faculty Course Tools.” This provides access to a few helpful tools, including an easy was to combine course sections. First, you need to make the Faculty Course Tool menu item visible in your Canvas course. (It won’t be visible to students.)
Enable Faculty Course Tools Menu Item
- Go to the primary section of your course.
- Select ‘Settings’ from the course menu, and then select the ‘Navigation’ tab from the settings page.
- Scroll down to see the menu items that aren’t currently visible. In that table, you’ll see a menu item called “Faculty Course Tools.” Click on the elipses (three dots on the right) and choose ‘Enable.’ Alternatively, you can drag the menu item up into the enabled section.
- See that the menu item is now in the upper ‘enabled’ section of the navigation.
- Save the menu changes by clicking the ‘Save’ button at the bottom of the navigation settings page.
- You will now see the “Faculty Course Tools” as a menu item for the course. (Students will not be able to see this menu option.)
Combine Sections
- Click on “Faculty Course Tools” to see the Faculty Course Tool Page.
- Click on “Combine Sections.”
- See the list of sections available for the current course and select the ones that you want to combine into the primary section.
- Click the ‘Combine Sections’ button.
- The courses will be combined and the site name will reflect the change.
