Location

The Upper Connecticut River Valley is a safe, friendly, and collegial place to live and work. The area contains extraordinary natural beauty and plentiful recreational activities.

Many of the labs that participate in the M2P2 program are located on the Dartmouth campus in Hanover, NH. A town of approximately 10,000 people, Hanover sits on New Hampshire-Vermont border in the scenic Upper Connecticut River Valley (Google Maps link).

Some M2P2 groups reside in the Borwell Building at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) in Lebanon, NH, less than a ten minute drive from the Hanover campus. A convenient shuttle service runs between the two campuses.

The region surrounding Hanover and Lebanon is referred to as the Upper Valley. In addition to the considerable off-campus offerings of movies, theater and music, museums, bookstores, farmer’s markers, and restaurants, the Dartmouth Hopkins Center brings world-class performers and film festivals to the Upper Valley. Opportunities abound for outdoor recreation, including hiking, canoeing, down hill and cross-country skiing, skating, biking, swimming and camping. The Dartmouth Outing Club is a great resource for those wanting to try new outdoor activities.

Boston and New York are easily reached by car or convenient bus service from downtown Hanover. Burlington, VT and Montreal are other cities that are easily reachable by car. One can reach Hanover by air via the regional airport in Lebanon, NH or airports in Manchester, NH, Boston, MA, or Burlington, VT.
